ADMISSION GUIDELINES

 

 

  • Entry requirement for 1st year 1st semester is successful completion of 10+2/ Higher Secondary (12th Grade) or equivalent stage of education from any recognized Board / Council / University. N.B.
     
  1. Only Students who have passed with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Class XII/10+2 orequivalent level are eligible for admission with major in Economics.
     
  2. In case of equal marks in H.S. results, total marks / percentage of marks of immediately preceding examination is to be taken into account for ranking.
     
  3. Best five (5) of the H.S. Subjects be adopted for calculating the total marks and percentage whereas in case of admission in B.Sc. with a Major subject like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Geography and in B.A with a Major subject like English, Bengali, Sanskrit, marks obtained in the concerned subject will be added with the aggregate, when in other subjects, we offer in UG courses, only aggregate will be considered.
     
  4. Major in History, Philosophy, Education, Music, Political Science, Economics & Sociology may be applied without studying those subjects in H.S level.
     
  5. For applying for Major in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, English & Bengali, a student must obtain at least 50% marks in the concerned subjects at 10+2 level. Whereas for Sanskrit a student must obtain at least 45% marks in the concern subject at 10+2 level.
     
  6. A student may opt for five major subjects. The merit lists will be published strictly on the merit basis.
     
  7. In case wherever only Four (4) subject are offered by any recognized Board / Council etc, as thecase may be in H.S or equivalent examination, first Language will be doubled to prepare the merit list on the basis of best five of H.S subjects as stated earlier.
     
  8. As per New Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate (UG) Programme, UGC 2022 (as per NEP 2020), the Undergraduate Degree Programmes are of either 3 or 4-year durations, with multiple entry and exit points and re-entry options, with appropriate certifications such as

 

  1. A UG certificate after completing 1 year (2 semesters) of study in the chosen fields of study, provided that a vocational course (additional 4 credits) must be completed during the summer term by the students who will exit the programme after securing 40 credits. These students are allowed to re-enter the degree programme within three years and complete the degree programme within the stipulated maximum period of seven (7) years.
     
  2. A UG diploma after 2 years (4 semesters) of study provided that a vocational course (additional 4 credits) must be completed during the summer term by the students who will exit the programme after securing 82 credits. These students are allowed to re-enter the degree programme within three years and complete the degree programme within the stipulated maximum period of seven (7) years.
     
  3. A bachelor’s degree after a 3-year (6 semesters) programme of study,
     
  4. A 4-year bachelor’s degree (honours) after a 4-year (8 semesters) programme of study. If the student completes a rigorous research project in their major area(s) of study in the 4th year of abachelor’s degree then (honours with research).

 

1.Reservation of Seats:

Reservation of seats will be made as per norms of the West Bengal Government-SC (22%), ST (06%), OBC- A (10%), OBC-B (7%), EWS (10%), for differently-abled candidates 5% of each category. For differently- abled candidate minimum disability will be considered as per Government rule.

2.Session Gap:

For admission to the Under Graduate Programme (1st year, 1st semester), there should not be a gap of more than 3 years between the year of Higher Secondary / 10+2 or equivalent Examinationand the year of admission to Under Graduate Programme of study i.e 2021, 2022 and 2023. In respect of calculation of marks, no deduction should be made in case of candidates passing out in previous years.
